NPHIL and Africa CDC Conduct Lassa Fever Training for Healthcare Workers
The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), in collaboration with the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention, is conducting a five-day Lassa Fever training for healthcare workers at the R.L.J. Kendeja Resort & Villas from June 8–12, 2026.
The training brings together healthcare professionals from across Liberia to strengthen their knowledge and skills in the prevention, detection, surveillance, case management, infection prevention and control (IPC), and response to Lassa Fever outbreaks.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance Liberia’s preparedness and capacity to respond effectively to emerging and re-emerging infectious disease threats.
Participants are engaging in interactive sessions, practical exercises, and technical discussions aimed at improving early detection and rapid response mechanisms at health facilities and within communities.
The training also emphasizes the importance of coordinated surveillance systems, risk communication, and adherence to public health protocols to reduce the spread of the disease.
The training is expected to equip participants with the necessary competencies to enhance Lassa Fever preparedness and response efforts throughout the country, contributing to Liberia’s broader disease prevention and outbreak preparedness agenda.
